Senior Graphic Designer

Description of Role

Commune is the premiere creative agency in Long Beach, serving local and national clients from our office on 4th Street Retro Row. This position gives you a rare opportunity to be a central part of the most innovative creative team in Long Beach. Being a Graphic Designer here means being not just a well rounded designer but also a creative that contributes and finds creative solutions. We need someone who’s ready to prove their passion for producing outstanding work, and someone with the courage to surprise everyone around them with creative ideas. 

This is not your average graphic design position. All of our graphic designers are part of larger client teams, so you’ll be working on projects right alongside the rest of the creatives and team members regardless of your title. As such, you will be expected to organize, create design solutions, creative concepts, and brilliant ideas while collaborating with the other members of your team. You will have the opportunity to operate in a client facing capacity and present your creative ideas directly to our clients with the support of client services and other creative team members.

This role is a hybrid of both in-person at our Long Beach office, and remote working environments. Out of state candidates will not be considered unless you travel to Long Beach regularly. 

Our Expectations are that you will act as a creative problem solver, proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite and related production environments, and be ready to crank out some great collaborative design work.

Your time with us will likely involve:

Conceptualize creative that is on-brand to elevate consumer experiences through use of style guides and creative briefs.

Collaborate and compile creative, workflow, design briefs and deliverables to determine the job requirements and scopes of work including timing, budget implications, checkpoints and more to inform, organize and manage multiple assets that improve workflow and maximize creativity.

Development of visual identity systems and their applications across a variety of clients & industries.

Creation of strategically led design output: Identity systems, UI/UX and digital collateral, paid and organic social media graphics, presentation decks and PDF output.

Perform, with a team focused approach, all duties as assigned and on time.

➢ Contributing to creative production processes by critiquing them, evolving and improving them to foster stronger working relationships and solutions.

Qualifications/Requirements:

➢ You have 3-5+ years agency or in-house experience in a fast-paced environment working with tight turn-around times.

Ability to work well as part of a fast moving team.

Ability to listen, capture and synthesize complex client and internal design feedback into clear, correct and actionable steps to refine and improve your creative output.

➢ Works well under time-constraints and can turn projects around quickly when necessary without compromising quality.

➢ A keen eye for aesthetics and details.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

➢ Strong commitment to customer service.

➢ Must have strong problem-solving abilities including the ability to analyze situations and provide alternative solutions.

➢ Organized, responsible, sound judgment, great attention to detail and follow through

➢ Collaborative, open-minded and able to thrive in a deadline driven environment.

➢ Working knowledge of current and emerging social media tools & trends.

Aptitude for learning new technology.

Junior Graphic Designer

Description of Role

Being a Junior Graphic Designer at Commune means being a well rounded creative that contributes to an innovative, supportive and hard working creative environment. We need someone who’s ready to prove their passion and surprise us with creative solutions we’ve yet to imagine.

This is not your average entry-level role. You’ll be working on projects right alongside the rest of the senior creative team and will be expected to organize, create design solutions, creative concepts, and the occasional brilliant idea.

In addition to your resume, please provide an established portfolio that you are excited to share with us that demonstrates multidisciplinary design problem solving.

Our Expectations are:

Don’t worry. We don’t expect you to have years of ad agency experience or have all the answers, but we expect you to be a creative problem solver, proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, and ready to crank out some great collaborative work. Most of all, we want you to be hungry to learn and develop your craft.

Your time with us will likely involve:

Creation of print and digital collateral, paid and organic social media graphics, presentation decks and beyond.

Assisting in visual identity design, environment design, point of purchase, point of sale items.

Getting jobs done on time and with perfection.

Pitching in wherever needed – whether that means helping organize our workflow, helping mobilize our social media for clients, or designing presentations for creative reviews.

Becoming familiar with multiple brand identity systems and components for a variety of different clients and applying them to creative output.
