North Long Beach is one of the most diverse and historic neighborhoods in Long Beach. Community pride runs deep and Councilmember Rex Richardson challenged Commune to develop a design system that captured the unique spirit of the area.
Commune first undertook a brand strategy that focused on connecting with various pockets of the community to understand how different neighborhoods make up the patchwork of history and progress that has come to define the Ninth District. From there we build a branding system that has been deployed throughout the district to ensure residents and business owners alike see themselves in the work.
Previously there was no central point to aggregate Uptown events and community news. Commune designed and built the Uptown team an easy to edit and manage online presence that will scale effectively with their wide ranging future content needs.
